The Twisted Arts (An intro to the magic of Tradewinds)

When I initially started making Tradewinds, I told myself that I didn't want the modpack to have any major magic mods. You will find that tradewinds doesn't have mods such as blood magic, botania nor thaumcraft. 


I felt that adding such magic mods would overshadow what tradewinds is all about, and would distract and imbalance the more real world, natural ways of doing things, such as using raw skill and armor to fight, or taking into account nature when traveling. 


However, that does not mean tradewinds is without magic. Being that it is still minecraft, we still have access to minecraft's more natural and vanilla magics, but with a *twist*


Players will still be able to brew potions and enchant, but those systems have been enhanced using mods such as Brewcraft, Reliquary, Artifacts and Extended Enchanting. 


The magic of Tradewinds is called "The Twisted Arts" 


There are different schools of the Twisted Arts, and they are as follows:


School of Twisted Mind: This school pertains to all magic relating to enchanting and alterations of physical items through word smithing. It also pertains to studies of ancient texts and languages. 


School of Twisted Body: This school deals with all magics relating to the body, such as healing, alterations of food and consumables in a magical way, resurrection, necromancy and summoning. 


School of Twisted Blood: Brewing and potion making is well known among this school, as potions alter one's blood to produce magical effects, both beneficial and harmful. This school also studies the magical effects of monsters and other magical entities, as it is believed that it is their blood that gives them their magical properties. 


You will be able to find various NPCs, factions and academies who specialize in these schools, magics and study various magical aspects of the natural (and unnatural) world.


Much of the knowledge behind the Twisted Arts is yet to be discovered, so you may be required to assist with research before unlocking aspects and items of these arts! 


All three arts will make heavy use of research materials (books, paper and quills), archeology and exploration (collect and identify relics), monster drops and experience, and rare materials from beyond our world (end, nether and space (meteors)) 


Players will need to fight monsters to acquire experience and drops, explore the world to find relics and meteors as these are primary ingredients and research materials for the Twisted Arts. 


Players will also need to interact with archeology NPCs and factions to help them identify relics they find throughout the world. 


Some magical items can be crafted via the Extended Enchanting table, which functions like an enchanting table plus a normal crafting table, using both items and xp to create things. By default, recipes are unknown, and you must discover these recipes via ancient tomes and scrolls.
